From AADC to Rangga & Cinta: Matching the Characters with Compass®
Do you know the iconic Indonesian film “Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?”? This year, Miles Films is bringing the beloved teenage love story back to the big screen with Rangga & Cinta, premiering in cinemas on October 2, 2025.
This new movie will follow Cinta and Rangga in a fresh chapter of their journey, with new perspectives, evolving friendships, and a cast that brings a different energy compared to the original AADC movies. Are you excited to see what’s changed?
As a Compass® writer who just watched AADC for the first time (yes, I know, embarrassingly late), I will not be reviewing the film here. Instead, I thought it would be fun to imagine which shoes Rangga & Cinta’s character might wear, based on how their personalities were portrayed in AADC.
Ok, so first, Rangga, now played by El Putra Sarira, comes across as calm, distant, yet quietly observant. For someone who values simplicity and depth, timeless shoes fit him best. The Gazelle® Low Black White or the Retrograde® Low Cream capture his understated style.
Cinta (now performed by Leya Princy) has always carried a touch of softness mixed with confidence, and I think she will forever suit pink shoes. The Velocity® Pastel in Fuschia instantly recalls the scene where Cinta (Dian Sastrowardoyo) reads a book while wearing pink shoes in the first AADC. Another strong option would be the Tribune® Home Away Maroon, which matches her signature knee-high socks.
Maura is the energetic one who brings rhythm to the group. The Retrograde® Slip On Herringbone White would let her move and dance with ease, always full of spirit.
Shoes That Tell Stories.
Alya gives the impression of fragility but at the same time carries a quiet strength. For her, the Gazelle® Low Ice Cream feels just right, offering a gentle reminder that her journey deserves sweetness and hope.
Borne brings a rebellious vibe, which makes the Retrograde® Hi Decon Triple Black a perfect match. The Retrograde® Camp Hi Olive would also fit him well, combining edge with a grounded tone.
Karmen has always stood out with her fearless and loyal personality. The Gazelle® Hi White Red feels like a natural choice, bold and ready to defend her friends in any situation. A touch of red, like the Gazelle® Popsicle Red, also fits her fiery energy.
Every pair of shoes carries a piece of their story, just like every character has left a mark on our memories.
